While there have been a few minor movements up and down on the SSL Global Skipper Ranking, the standout performances are from French Nacra 15 helms.
The French have always been strong in multihulls, and it looks like the latest generation of sailing stars are following in their tracks.
In the past 12 months, Clément Martineau, won the 2022 Nacra 15 European Championship, held in his home country at Carnac, the 2022 Nacra 15 World Championship, held at the iconic venue of Lake Garda in Italy, and has just finished third in the 2023 Nacra 15 World Championship, held at Fort Lauderdale, USA. These results have propelled him from 65th to a personal best 24th in the SSL Global Skipper Ranking.
Fellow French Nacra 15 sailor Thomas Proust also made a big gain, moving from 53rd to 42nd in the SSL Global Skipper Ranking, thanks to his seventh place finish at the 2023 Nacra 15 Worlds. Highlight so far in his sailing career was winning the Nacra 15 2021 Youth Sailing World Championship, held at Musannah, Oman, and in the same year winning the Nacra 15 World Championship, held at La Grande Motte, France.
We at the SSL love seeing the super-talented next generation of sailors rising up the ranks!
